Zhongshan Warship relics

A famous unsinkable vessel

Originally named Yongfeng Vessel, it was built in 1913 and listed into the first fleet of Republic of China naval force. After the 1911 Revolution, the vessel not only made great contribution to the campaign against Yuan Shikai led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, but also played a decisive role in the battle against Chen Jiongming’s rebellion. In 1925, after Dr. Sun passed away, the vessel was named after him. In the 1938 battle of safeguarding Wuhan against Japanese aggression, after a fierce fighting against Japanese warplanes, the warship sank into the Yangtze River. It was salvaged successfully in 1997. Currently, it has been rehabilitated and provided for sightseeing by visitors from home and abroad.
