Qingshan Sesame Baked Cake


Qingshan sesame baked cake, a traditional specialty in Qingshan, got high reputation and sold well on both sides of Yangtze River from Chongqing to Nanjing as early as the end of the Qing Dynasty. Authentic cakes were only made in Hongxing Grocery before 1949, which was expanded to be Hongxing Food Products Factory after 1949 and later incorporated with Qingshan Branch of Changjiang Food Products Factory into Qingshan Food Products Factory. The new factory continued making the traditional cakes. Over the past forty years, the food has been awarded the Hubei Products of Quality Prize for steady rise in quality and become a famous snack enjoyed both in domestic markets and Southeast Asian regions. Qingshan sesame baked cake is a kind of packed thin flaky cake with white border and black sesame seed core, featuring fragrance, looseness, crispness and freshness of rice baked cake, as well as sweetness and mellowness of Yunpian cake. The loose, sweet and scrip dainty are same thick flakes with uniform distributed sesame seeds and fragrance of hempseed kernels and sweet osmanthus. And they are elaborated with such main ingredients from certain places as glutinous rice from Yingshan, sweet osmanthus from Xianning, black sesame seeds from Huangmei and high-grade pure white sugar.
